John Jackson—known to most as John J – built his career riding steep, exposed, technical terrain with control and power. When people talk about “charging,” John J is one of the riders they mean. His flowy riding style demonstrates strength, composure and intentionality — qualities that have helped build his fandom and left an indelible mark on the sport of snowboarding itself.
John came up during snowboarding’s most prolific and important film eras - from early breakout parts in Hifi (2000) and The Empire(2001), through an iconic run with Standard Films, Forum, and Brain Farm, his riding consistently raised the bar. Standout projects like That’s It, That’s All, The Art of Flight, and his deeply personal Red Bull series The Book of John J showcased not just technical progression, but an evolving relationship with the mountains and the pursuit.
Decades in, John J continues to ride at the highest level. It’s a rare talent that remains as relevant—and respected—through decades of evolving sport. J John continues to travel the globe in search of snow and terrain that spark inspiration—but his life is also grounded in family as much as riding. Fatherhood has added a new dimension to his approach, sharpening his perspective and reinforcing the importance of preparation, patience, and persistence. Whether he’s filming a new project, wrenching on his gear (poorly, by his own admission), or teaching his kids how to snowboard, John Jackson continues to ride—and live—with intention and purpose. 
Motivated, endlessly creative, and always up for an adventure, he remains proof that longevity in snowboarding grows out of authenticity. John has earned a reputation as a rider’s rider: someone who prioritizes his relationships, progress in sport, and respect for the mountains themselves.
